From Burnout to Breakthrough

Therapy for High-Achievers: Your Antidote to Carrying It All

Erica Murphy, LPC provides virtual therapy services from New Orleans, Louisiana

Imagine it’s 6 Months in the Future

And you can now say…

I’m done proving my worth by being the most productive, most helpful, most accommodating woman in the room. I don’t need a color-coded calendar, a spotless kitchen, or a fully checked to-do list to feel like I matter. I say no to things I don’t want to do, and I don’t feel guilty or over-explain why.

I’m finally trusting my gut. My instincts are sharp, and my decisions come fast and intuitively now. I don’t second-guess like I used to. I’m saying yes to things that scare and stretch me—like pole dancing, roller derby, or whatever weird thrill hits next.

I’ve stopped pretending to be chill when I’m actually craving depth, devotion, support, and damn good conversation. My relationships are feeling more and more real, deep, nourishing, and reciprocated. No more obligation, caretaking, and subtle resentment. My calendar is full of shit I actually look forward to - and for once, I’m not the only one doing the planning!

I feel more like me than I ever have. Unfiltered, unbothered, and fully turned on by my own life. And for the first time, it all feels deliciously light. Not because it’s perfect. But because I finally stopped performing it.

You’re my kind of client if…

  • You’re a Type A, self-starter, sarcastic sense of humor, loves cursing, & gets shit done kind of person.

  • You’re in a high-stress, high performance career field (yes, motherhood counts!) that does not allow for mistakes or fuck-ups.

  • You’re really, really tired from constantly putting on the “I’ve got my life together!” performance.

  • You suck at "just being in the moment” because your brain is too busy stressing about all your to-do’s.

  • You want to feel good (not guilty & anxious!) when you treat yourself or take time just for you.

  • Your fear of failing (and people knowing you failed) is what keeps you in your comfort zone.

  • You want to reconnect with your desires and go after what you want for a change - without worrying about everyone else first.

  • You're eager to dig in and start figuring out what’s blocking you so you can resolve this shit and move forward with the life you know you’re meant to be living.

Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I’m Erica Murphy!

I’m a New Orleans based therapist who teaches busy & stressed high-performers how to make life feel lighter, simpler, and easier. As a former burnt out high-performer myself (hello, New York City life!), I am intimately aware of the struggles you’re currently experiencing. I’ve not only been where you are - I have the knowledge, skills, and straightforward energy to help you get to the other side.

As a therapist, I don’t put on airs or pretend to be flawless. During our therapy sessions you’ll usually find me in comfy sweatshirts & yoga pants, sippin’ on my coffee and dropping the occasional f bomb while we figure out what’s going on with you. My dog Lazlo will be over in the corner, napping the deep sleep of those unbothered by responsibility (the lucky bastard).

When I’m not working, you can find me fueling my iced coffee addiction, wrangling my fur gremlins Lazlo (pictured here) and Colin Robinson, or wrapped in my cozy weighted blanket as I devour the latest spicy romantasy on my Kindle with glass of wine in hand. Click here to learn more about Erica.

My Specialties

  • Imposter Syndrome

Most people who know you would easily classify you as a high-performer or over-achiever. You’re the person who “has their shit together” and is, overall, a badass. So why is it that other people can so easily see your awesomeness - but you struggle to believe it? It’s a 24/7 job keeping up with the pressure of expectations, and it’s no coincidence you’ve been experiencing physical symptoms of stress like headaches, neck and back pain, and stomach issues. Let me help you redefine success away from external validation and back to what truly matters.

  • Perfectionism

If you’re not immediately good at something, you have two main go-to’s: either avoid it completely, or get your Inner Mean Girl to criticize you until you improve. And this has served you well up til now - honestly, it’s been a driving factor of why you’ve been successful in life! But lately, you’re feeling more stressed and anxious than ever before. And it’s getting harder and harder to remember the last time you did something just for fun - not because you were chasing the feeling that comes from getting shit done and garnering accolades. Let me help you slow down, take a beat, and reorient your daily perspective.

  • Life Coaching

Whether you’re questioning your career, or if you should move forward in your relationship, or if you should just say “fuck it,” move to Europe, and start life from scratch - we’ve all been there! Pivotal life decisions often go hand-in-hand with intense pressure that results in fear, anxiety, and analysis paralysis. You get so caught up trying to identify the “right” answer, you end up twisting yourself into an anxious pretzel or spiraling mess - but still no clearer on what to do next! Let me help you find clarity and perspective so you can make values-aligned life decisions.

Example Client Journeys

  • Tianna, the Perfectionist

Tianna’s life looked picture-perfect from the outside - until it suddenly all fell apart, seemingly overnight. Wounded by a deep betrayal and left wondering where it all went wrong, Tianna found herself in therapy trying to make sense of it all.

Through therapy with Erica, Tianna learned how to reduce her anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional reactivity. Therapy helped Tianna reconnect with her intuition and her confidence as she relearned how to live a values-centered life.

Now Tianna experiences the daily sense of peace, security, & fulfillment she’s always wished for.

  • Sonya, the People Pleaser

Despite her many accomplishments, Sonya was forever doubting herself and battling intense anxiety around disappointing people. She was “the dependable one” who constantly prioritized everyone else ahead of herself. Eventually Sonya’s stomach issues, headaches, and back pain got so bad she went to the doctor for help. The doctor diagnosed Sonya with anxiety and referred her for therapy.

Sonya and her therapist Erica uncovered the roots of Sonya's self-doubt and people-pleasing tendencies. Sonya learned how to implement healthy boundaries, increase her self-esteem, and cultivate more fulfilling relationships.

Sonya is now happily free from the constant stomach issues, headaches, and back pain that used to plague most of her days.

  • Bree, the Overachiever

Bree finally got the big promotion she’d been working so hard for! She expected to feel thrilled but instead started experiencing sleepless nights, frequent panic attacks, and a constant sense of impending doom that hovered like a heavy dark cloud. Feeling overwhelmed and almost at her breaking point, Bree decided to give therapy a try.

Through therapy, Bree came to understand that she’d been linking her self-worth with her achievements her entire life. Bree and her therapist Erica addressed the main causes of Bree’s stress and how to stop linking self-esteem to external factors like what she does for a living.

Bree finished therapy feeling in tune with her needs and secure in her worth. She now trusts herself to make authentic, values-aligned decisions moving forward.

How to Work With Erica

  • Please do us both a favor and read through my FAQ’s section before booking a discovery call. This will save us both time by helping you to determine if there’s anything about my style or policies that would prevent me from being the right fit for you.

  • Schedule your free 15-minute discovery call with me. We’ll get to chat directly, clarify what you’re looking for from therapy, and determine if I’m the best fit for your needs.

*I am also happy to provide referrals if we decide not to move forward for whatever reason.

  • If we decide to work together, we’ll get you scheduled for your first appointment (either during our discovery call or via a follow-up email with scheduling link included). Once your first appointment has been scheduled, you’ll then receive an email with your paperwork package. You will need to complete this paperwork before our first appointment, otherwise I will be unable to meet with you.

The paperwork package will include a payment form where you can enter your preferred method of payment for our appointments. Your card will be automatically charged on the day of your scheduled therapy appointments moving forward.

  • In our first appointment we’ll start getting to know each other, clarify your goals for our time together, and have you walking away with a renewed sense of confidence, hope, and clarity.
